John Bringas of CASTI recognized by ASTM International

Receives "Award of Merit and Honorary Title of Fellow" and "Frank W. Reinhart Award"

Two prestigious awards were presented to John Bringas of CASTI at the recent ASTM International A01.92 Committee Meeting in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to ASTM and the metals industry.

Award of Merit and Honorary Title of Fellow
The Award of Merit, ASTM International’s highest honor, was established in 1949 to recognize distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM committee activities. John’s citation reads:
“For visionary leadership on ASTM International Committee A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel, and Related Alloys, in chairing both Subcommittee A01.93 on Terminology and Subcommittee B02.91 on Terminology, harmonizing terms for steel, stainless steel, nonferrous metals and corrosion, providing a lasting impact on the production and use of metals worldwide.”

Frank W. Reinhart Award
This award recognizes outstanding contributions to terminology standardization and is presented no more than once a year. John was nominated by Committee B02 on Nonferrous Metals and Alloys, with approval from ASTM’s Committee on Standards. His citation reads:
“For tenacious visionary leadership in terminology standardization across ASTM and the metals industry by chairing terminology subcommittees and guiding the harmonizing of terms for nonferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, and corrosion, making a lasting impact on the specification and use of metals worldwide.”
